04 Oct 2007
When Thierry Henry did a Renault Clio ad in 2002 little did he know that it would bring him name and fame of a different kind. The ad has a catch phrase “Va Va Voom”. With Thierry Henry uttering the words in his inimitable style, the catch phrase has become an instantaneous hit with the public and his millions of fans around the world. The word, “Va Va Voom” having a universal appeal made a deep impact on the people and has almost become a crazy byword.

The word, “Va Va voom”, had become synonymous with Thierry Henry and has spurred the creative maniacs to find its exact meaning. Even Thierry Henry tried to find the definitive meaning of “Va Va Voom” but met with no success. At last in 2005, Concise Oxford English Dictionary adopting it as a new English word described its meaning. “Va Va Voom” means, ‘The quality of being exciting, vigorous and sexually attractive.’ All three attributes perfectly match the persona of Thierry Henry. Thus “Va Va Voom” and Thierry Henry had become inseparable. “Va Va Voom” is a French word and it means ‘Go Go Voom’ in English.

Today he has truly made his mark on history of the game. When Thierry Henry plays, he plays like a possessed man. He says, “When I step on the pitch, when I have the ball, I know it’s mine.” Truly, when he possesses the ball he possesses it like a possessed man. He further adds, “Whenever I feel that the time has come for me to make a difference in our games, I can and I will.”

Such is his spirit, full of confidence, grit and determination, which makes him turn the fortunes of the game in his team’s favor. The secret lies in the spirit that constantly chants the magical words, “I can and I will.”

04 Oct 2007
Thierry Henry opened his account for FC Barcelona on September 19th 2007 in a match against Olympique Lyon by scoring the final goal at the 91st minute and sealed the victory for Barcelona. The crazy Barca fans who watched Thierry Henry score his first goal were ecstatic and cheered him loudly. Enamored by the cheering crowd, Thierry Henry thanked all the Barca fans for their warmth, love and enthusiastic support. He promised more of such action by putting in 100 per cent efforts in each and every game he plays for FC Barcelona.

Speaking highly of them Thierry Henry said, “Barca fans have treated me well at all times. The truth is I like the Barça supporters a lot. Since arriving at FC Barcelona, I have always given my game full attention and put in one hundred per cent in all matches. I have always played that way.”

Thierry Henry is Aging but not his talents
04 Oct 2007
Thierry Henry’s acceleration is unmatched by any sprinter of the day. He not only runs at incredible pace all over the pitch, but he runs along with the ball making the rival defenses a mute spectators. Like everybody Thierry Henry too is growing in years.

At thirty, Thierry Henry has come to terms with his age and in humility says, “I’m not doing what I can do on the pitch,” he told an interviewer. “I can’t make the runs. I’m not match fit. I’m just concentrating on my passing and being available for the team.” Thierry Henry has proved that any striker of exceptional ability should also learn and excel in the art of assists and passes, which talent would help the player in his end days.

The incomparable Thierry Henry
04 Oct 2007
Thierry Henry the charismatic footballer is extraordinarily gifted. He now plays for FC Barcelona and for his country France. He has a unique uni-focal concentration on the goal posts or the nets.

Thierry Henry plays football as if his only aim is to score goals; and indeed no one does better than him in the world of football. With each and every passing game, Thierry Henry strives to ‘rediscover his scoring instinct and the instant reaction in front of a goal.’

“I’ve literally had to go back to school and be re-taught everything about the art of striking.” He concedes in an interview to The Observer years back. Today, Thierry Henry is incredibly incomparable in the art of striking.

Not only is he a prolific scorer, he is also a wonderful teams-man. His record of assists and passes stand in evidence of him as a consummate team player. His charisma as a person and as a footballer is one of a fantasy only found in fairy tales.

The end of ’Merry’ –go-round Marriage
04 Oct 2007

French and FC Barcelona’s dazzling footballer, Thierry Henry had split up with his English wife Claire Merry after four years of merry-go-round marriage. It took just over a minute to nullify the four-year long happy married life.

The District Judge Malik at the Principal Registry of the High Court’s Family Division in central London just took over a minute to issue decree nisi to the estranged couple on September 3rd, 2007, after Claire Merry filed on the grounds of Thierry Henry’s “unreasonable behavior”. The decree nisi shall become decree absolute after a period of six weeks and one day.

Thierry Henry and Claire Merry fell in love with each other when they acted together in television ads for Renault Clio cars, in which Henry uses the now famous catchphrase, “va va voom”.

The divorce settlement might cost Thierry Henry dearly as has to part anywhere between £15 million and £25 million. Incidentally the divorce proceedings coincided with his move to Barcelona, which his fans feel it may augur well for him
